Description
Wedgewood Library has several programs to encourage students to read. We are part of a parish wide reading computerized book report system called Accelerated Reader. A student reads a book then takes a 5 to 10 question test on the computer. The computer grades the test and posts the scores. If students transfer from other schools in the parish their scores will travel with them.
Each nine weeks as part of our incentive programs, students who have reached their goals are invited to a dance in the auditorium. Students are recognized for their achievements at each nine week award program as well as top scorers from each grade level. In 4-5 grade students who earn 100 points are awarded a metal and 1-3 grade students who earn 25 points are awarded with a pizza party at the end of the year.
All students who reach their goals by the end of the year will be greatly rewarded with a fun day we call Splash Day! There will be lots of water games, tug of war, a water obstacle course, and a Space Walk.
